Tenugui Shima

The Shima tenugui combines several Japanese geometric motifs arranged in three vertical bands. Red and white circular shapes, Seigaiha waves on a dark blue background, and blue and yellow graphic patterns create a colourful, elegant and rhythmic composition.

The word “shima” means stripes in Japanese. In this design, the different bands bring together several traditional inspirations in a style that is both classic and modern.

A tenugui (手拭い) is a thin Japanese cotton towel that is lightweight, absorbent and easy to carry. In Japan, it has been used in everyday life for generations.
